You have likely heard about Shellshock, the big bad bash bug effecting Linux bash shells. It’s not a virus, it is however a bug. Yes, Mac is Linux based and therefore, in the background, has the nifty bash shell available to use.
Here is your tip for the day.
Fixes will not come to you via some website or email. Please do not click any links online, any links sent to you via email, or any files sent to you via email to “fix” this.
If you aren’t sure, because maybe something was sent by a friend and says “You’re in danger, click this to fix your Mac!”… Don’t!
Unless you really know what you are doing, wait until Apple posts an update to fix this. Yes, you can get bad stuff on your computer, even if it’s a Mac. Apple will likely roll out a fix using the usual update method (one hopes very soon). In the meantime, resist the urge to click.
